Getting Hired in Data: PepsiCo

If you are thinking about making the transition into a data career, or perhaps you are looking for an opportunity to advance your current data career - now is the time. Data-related skills continue to be some of the most in-demand skills for employers, and more and more companies are adopting data-driven strategies and infrastructure.

Women in Data partner, PepsiCo, recently announced they are adding more than 500 data and digital jobs with the launch of their new Digital Hubs located in Dallas and Barcelona. These hubs will help drive the future of PepsiCo’s digitalization.

Several of these job opportunities and other roles across PepsiCo’s global business and data management teams are available on our Women in Data job board. These include roles in data science, business intelligence, data governance, machine learning and more.

Not sure if these roles are right for you? We chatted with PepsiCo’s global talent acquisition team to learn more about what working at PepsiCo is like, and how interested applicants can stand out when applying. The team also shared what you can expect during the interview process.

What’s special about working at PepsiCo?

At PepsiCo, you get the best of both worlds: an entrepreneur's mindset plus reach and resources.

“Our collaborative culture and worldwide presence produce a stream of new opportunities to determine the future and propel your life's work. Bring your unique perspective. Bring curiosity. Bring creativity, and drive. We'll give you a platform to dare on a global scale.”

Many roles offer a hybrid work model, flexible work schedules, a total rewards and benefits package, and of course, opportunities to grow and become a leader at an international company.

How to stand out when applying for a role at PepsiCo?

  • One of the first things you can do is make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date and accurately showcases your skills, not just your experience.

  • Be sure to include any personal websites, GitHub, publications, and certifications on your resume.

  • Tailor your resume according to the job description highlighting your experience in the desired skill areas.

  • The next step you can take is just to apply on the PepsiCo website. So many wonderful candidates self-reject themselves out before even completing an application.

  • Lastly, don’t hesitate to reach out to the appropriate recruiter after applying.

What can you expect if you land an interview with PepsiCo?

The interview process may look a little different depending on the role, team and location you are applying for.

  • Depending on the opening/area you may need to take a technical assessment online.

  • For most roles, you will meet with a diverse interview team with about 3-4 interviews on average.

  • Utilize this time to also ask questions! PepsiCo interviewers (and most interviewers at any company) love for interviews to be interactive.

  • You will most likely get to meet with other team members, the hiring manager as well as another team the role will be cross-collaborating with. You will be able to get a sense of not only the role you applied for but the team and culture at PepsiCo.
